"Someone has to take care of the looking of the world.”
In the closing weeks of August summer begins to slip on the guise of autumn. Fruit stands ripe in orchards and along the hedge rows, the harvest is underway, early morning mists are just beginning, the sea feels warm and softer than ever, families of swallows prepare to journey South and the island begins to gently turn in on itself once more.
The course will travel through these closing days of summer, taking as its focus “Abstraction” and its relationship as a painted form, to our experience of the visual world and the silent notions of its re-presentation; this balanced and mediated by our innate feelings for space, texture, surface, composition and colour moved across a painted surface.
“Aslan made a door in the air that people walked through and disappeared.
They went into Narnia and back into the real world.”
Accompanying this two week journey will be a series of presentations, films etc. that will support the focus of the course and give a context to our studio activities.
